# About Ledroon

> Ledroon started because a school drone club needed a simulator its computers could run.

## How it started

Our school in Czechia has an FPV drone club. The kids learn on a simulator before they fly a real quad, and we wanted one you could open in a browser and fly within seconds, without installing anything.

So we wrote one that runs in a browser. It had to start in seconds and feel like a real drone. The first version had one drone and one park. Then came the forest, the abandoned mill at Malczyce, a race against your own ghost, analog video breakup, the whole real world, and Prague with its landmarks.

## What we care about

1. **Feel first.** Low input latency and believable physics matter more than graphics.
2. **Nothing in the way.** One click and you are flying: no install, no account needed.
3. **Free to fly.** The part that makes it a good sim stays free.

## Name

Ledroon. Le drone, with two o's. Nobody else was using it.

## Thanks

Map data comes from OpenStreetMap and its contributors. Terrain comes from Mapterhorn, ČÚZK, Copernicus and the Mapzen terrain tiles. The game is built with three.js and Preact.
